Yeah yeah, it’s been too long since you’ve seen a website of mine. I haven’t had one in at least a year.
I honestly wouldn’t be setting this all up if:
A. I didn’t already have a domain leftover from last year.
B. I hadn’t set up a free Amazon EC2 virtual machine to host someone else’s website a couple months ago (project fell through).
C. Authors didn’t need a digital presence in 2018.
I’d say geez, why couldn’t I have been an author pre-internet? But let’s face it, getting rejections from literary firms and publishers is much faster when it happens digitally. Plus, I’d have gone bankrupt from purchasing stamps to mail stuff off to all them and literary magazines.
Oh, and I guess there’s Amazon Kindle, but I’m not exactly successful there. . . yet.
So here we are, making the site again. And for those of you who don’t make websites, know it’s a raging pain in the rear. For those of you who have made websites before, you do know. I’ve gotta get menus, categories, and images all set. Then there’s a domain to map, a virtual host to keep running, social media to update, a blog to keep populated with g̶a̶r̶b̶a̶g̶e̶ funny and interesting content like this.
Please be patient as building a website takes time. This will continue to be a work in progress. . . at least until Amazon’s free 12-month trial runs anyway. Then? Eh, we’ll see where we are. That’s 12-months-from-now Lanning’s problem. (Good luck, big guy!).
So expect a wide variety of content coming later. I’ll probably call this website. . . functional here in a little bit.
Later tonight I’ll have an update on my newest book series I’ll be launching. It appears I’m in the process of selling my soul (creating a young adult series). Cheers.
